Reporting To: R&D Manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Educational Background:
Degree in a technical discipline — preferably Biomedical Engineering, Mechanics, Electronics, or Computer Science.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, with a strong track record of delivering testing and prototyping initiatives in a regulated, technical environment.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As Testing & Prototyping Coordinator, you will take ownership for the quality of product designs, ensuring they align with the performance, timelines, cost, and compliance criteria defined by the Product and Project Management team.
You will lead a team of designers, developing their capabilities and productivity while driving excellence in validation, prototyping, and testing across all new products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead Validation and Testing:
Develop and execute validation and testing protocols for all new products, verifying conformity against technical and quality criteria.

Team Management:
Provide strong leadership to designers, guiding their professional development and ensuring effective delivery against goals.

Design Methodology:
Develop, implement and continually improve testing methods, procedures, and related documentation for all devices in the portfolio.

Functional Validation:
Provide insightful, structured feedback on product functionality, identifying potential issues and areas for improvement.

Cross-Functional Support:
Collaborate closely with Customer Quality, Product Marketing, and other stakeholders to resolve field issues and determine root causes.

Production Integration:
Support production teams to implement effective in-line verification and testing systems, integrating process controls into production (in collaboration with Process Engineers).

Availability to travel:
Willingness to travel if required.

Decision Making:
Medium to high degree of autonomy — making key decisions within testing and prototyping responsibilities.

Complexity:
Medium to high — role involves navigating technical, procedural, and interpersonal complexities.

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Language:
Good English (written and verbal).

IT:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Specialist knowledge:

Structural calculations — proficient

Simulation programs — intermediate

Product Data Management — intermediate

Design techniques and coding systems — proficient

Industrial automation, costing mechanisms, business processes, marketing terminology — desirable

Controlled Environments:
Experience in a regulated industry is desirable — knowledge of ISO 13485, IEC 62304, IEC 62366, 2017/745 (MDR), ISO 14971, ISO 27001, 2016/679 (GDPR), IEC 60601-1 is a strong advantage.
